As Boris Johnson announces more details of the Government’s Roadmap to Recovery, the next in our series of COVID-Conversation webinars returns to the subject of health and safety. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has presented many challenges for the workplace and, in response to the announcement of non-essential businesses reopening, we look at how we can support businesses to understand the risks around coronavirus and to respond accordingly.

Many businesses, especially within the SME sector, will be relying on their local Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) to lead them through the process of safely reopening. Business owners need to develop pragmatic and workable solutions for their own unique circumstances. In these exceptional times we need to share solutions and ideas to get to the point where coronavirus is managed just like any other risk, such as Legionella or slips and trips.

Our panellists will look at ongoing areas of concern. Drawing on their collective experience, they will debate solutions from policy and regulatory perspectives, as well as sharing insights on current issues and offering practical recommendations and guidance on prevention measures for all workplaces.

Our panel includes: Dr Alexander Tsavalos, head of the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Local Authority and Safety Unit; Jonathan Hayes, risk management director at Moto, the motorway service station operator, and member of CIEH's Board of Trustees;
Toby Thorp, a Chartered EHP who works at the City of London Corporation and is a member representative of many health and safety panels and boards; and Dr Lisa Ackerley, a Chartered EHP who works extensively with the hospitality industry as adviser to UKHospitality, and is a trustee, scientific adviser and Vice Chair of the International Scientific Forum on Home Hygiene (IFH).
